Challenge:

Producing an initial spaceport definition that could accommodate the in development Orbex Prime launch system and its operational characteristics whilst being compliant with in development and evolving UK regulatory requirements. This required a fundamental understanding of underpinning driving requirements for a launch service based around a small launch vehicle, as well as an understanding of commercial drivers and customer needs, in order to make robust engineering and commercial decisions to feed in to the final design of the spaceport and its operations

Solution:

UKLSLs structured approach to the project, driven by systems integration principles, provided the inputs to the definition and design to allow the implementation to compatible with the high level objectives of the project including the ability to operate a safe, licencable and commercially viable launch service to customers.

Results:

The underpinning work done by UKLSL in the early stages of the project flows through the ongoing implementation of the project, and we continue to deliver in key roles in assuring that launch operations from the site can be undertaken safely and in accordance with the applicable UK regulations
