Submeter GSD Imager for future European 200 satellite VHR constellation

  • Company Name: Scanway Space
  • Email: space@scanway.pl
  • Partner Name: Marble Imaging, European Space Agency (ESA)
  • Year of implementation: 2024-2026
  • Country of implementation: Germany
  • Technology: Earth Observation Services, Payload Development, Remote Monitoring
  • Industry: Aerospace
Challenge:

The objective of the project is to develop a very-high-resolution (VHR) optical payload. This payload includes a sub-meter visible and near-infrared imager, along with a high-resolution short-wave infrared imager. The optical payload is scheduled to be deployed on the first satellite, planned for launch in the first quarter of 2026, and will subsequently be integrated into a satellite constellation.

Solution:

A dual imager system, comprising an instrument with an approximately 450 mm aperture, delivering a submeter GSD in the visible (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) bands, alongside a second instrument with an approximately 100 mm aperture, providing a GSD of 10 meters in the short-wave infrared (SWIR) bands. This configuration ensures precise, multi-spectral imaging across different wavelengths.

Results:

The development process is currently underway.
