The undisclosed company has contracted a supplier across the Atlantic to deliver a critical system for their mission. The delivery is challenging with multiple technical issues and a lack of clear/effective communication. Being in a very different time zone, the company finds difficult to achieve progress and make critical decision.
Ruwah consulting offered a flexible retainer for critical supplier facilitation services involving a senior project systems engineer.
The role of the consultant was to get closer to the critical supplier team (remote & in person) in order to oversee the daily activities, drive the project towards full resolution on behalf of the company, deal with immediate minor issues and report daily progress, actions or major decision choices for consideration.
The consultant represented the company to its critical supplier and provided oversight and traction for resolution efforts to progress faster. Actions were tracked and followed-up upon to support the company programme manager. A comprehensive rounded perspective on the state at play was regularly reported for the company’s considerations.
Thanks to this facilitation, the communication between the company and its supplier was clearer and less misunderstanding, allowing better and faster decision-making. Working with the supplier’s team was a positive experience, as the consultant was able to prepare the supplier for specific questions that would come with more specific pre-information, making progress meeting more pragmatic and focused on finding solutions together rather than focusing on the issues.
Being closer to the supplier also helped to alleviate technical decisions which could have had a negative long-term impact on the project, and practically supported the supplier’s team with experience sharing and engineering ideas to better address the issues.
