NT long-standing expertise provide the foundation for Space Safety. Space Response to Risk & Integration with Ground segment is an integrated solution for semi-automatized calculation and communication between ground detection, ground-based threat assessment and reaction scenarios recommendation, interfacing with military C2 and the flight segment for space-based object surveillance and autonomous planning. It integrates a communication chain between the ground segment and the onboard (flight) segment to increase the safety and reactivity of military space systems through avoiding collision or close encounter with a hostile spacecraft. The project allows the first ever integrated calculation & communication chain between ground and flight segments, able to send, in a lab environment, a countermeasure to a spacecraft within 90 seconds following the detection of a threat with optical ground means (networks of telescope stations).
